A LOCAL FOUNDATION WITH GLOBAL REACH.

About The Joshua Glynn Memorial Foundation

The Joshua Glynn Memorial Foundation was created by Matt and Karen Glynn, the parents of Joshua Glynn, a young man with a love of God, a passion for music and a belief in the power of both to change lives, one heart at a time. Joshua lost his life at age 32 in a tragic car accident. This foundation was set up to honor Joshua for who he was, not for what could have been. Our aim is to further Joshua’s mission of sharing God’s love through music. We seek to carry on this work through music-focused projects and events and efforts to serve disadvantaged youth on both the local level and around the Globe.

A Faith Based Organization

While not affiliated with any particular church or denomination, The Joshua Glynn Memorial Foundation is very much a faith based organization in the sense that God is at the center of all that we do. We believe that God is Love and that he loves each of us deeply. We believe we can express the love of God by sharing the gift of music, celebrating the gift of life, serving others with joy and caring for the forgotten and disadvantaged. There are two sayings of Jesus that guide our actions: “To those who much is given, much is expected” and  “Love your neighbor as yourself”.

Making a Difference Through Music

Making music was central to Joshua’s life. He loved nothing more than sharing music with others, whether at an orphanage half way across the world, around a campfire in his own backyard or playing on a stage with his band. The Foundation shares the belief in the power of music to bring people together and create a spirit of joy, hope and connectedness. Many of our projects, including the Joshua Glynn Music + Arts Center at the Plymouth Boy & Girls Club are aimed at providing opportunities for local kids and those in our affiliated orphanages in Haiti and Africa to discover, enjoy and improve their ability to make music.

With High Charitable Accountability

The Joshua Glynn Memorial Foundation is a registered 501 (c)(3) charitable organization. All those who support our work with their tax deductible donations can rest assured that their contributions will be well stewarded and used to directly support the work of the foundation.

A Very Special Photograph

About our logo and the name of the Glynnt Festival

People sometimes ask why there is an image of an eye in the foundation logo and why our music festival is called Glynnt. It all goes back to this photo Joshua took of one of the young orphans he befriended on a mission trip to Africa.

In it, you can see a reflection of the photographer as well as the desperately poor slums in which the young boy with a spark in his eye spent his days. Josh felt that this photo captured something simple and profound about the power of  being there as a friend for those who feel forgotten.

Josh talked about his desire to use his gift of music to share God’s love and bring hope, healing and joy to those in need. He said “If I ever do my own thing with this I’m going to call it Glynnt.”

About The Foundation Board

Matthew Glynn and Karen Glynn, President and Vice President

Matt and Karen are the parents of Joshua Glynn, Founders and the President and Vice President of the Joshua Glynn Memorial Foundation. Their mission is to further Joshua’s work of sharing the love of God through Music. Together they perpetuate the legacy of their son, envision and coordinate projects that will have a lasting impact.

Michael Glynn, Board Member

Michael lives in the sea coast of New Hampshire with his wife, son, and daughter. He is one of Joshua’s cousins and has fond memories of Joshua from a young age where they would play guitar together at family gatherings, explore the world, and have playful debates about life. Michael sits on the board of the foundation and supports with events, fundraising, allocation of funds and spreading the spirit of Joshua’s message.

In Michael’s words: “Josh’s love for people and life was truly captivating and contagious. His outlook on life is something I instill in everyday life because one of Josh’s biggest passions outside of music was to spread love and joy to others. My wife and I are incorporating this beautiful outlook on life to our young children and I am honored to be a integral part of spreading Josh’s love and passions to the world.”

Matthew Jaros, Board Member

Matt Jaros grew up in Plymouth and attended Plymouth South High School before going to the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst. Matt now lives in Stoughton with his soon to be wife and works in sales in the software industry. As Josh’s younger cousin, Josh was always a role model for Matt. They often worked together on jobs at Glynn Electric growing up and would commute having long conversations about life, the world and, of course, listening to music.

As a board member, Matt meets regularly with the other board members to discuss and plan all matters related to running the foundation in Josh’s memory and with his mission in mind.

In Matt’s words: “For me, this mission is twofold. My younger brother, Jon, also passed away in a car accident far too young. Like Josh, he had a huge heart and a passion for music and helping others. Today, I am honored to carry out this mission in Josh’s name but in both of their memories as I know how proud they both would be of it all”
